FAQ & RESOURCES

Practical answers before you connect RootTruth to a live environment.

RootTruth™ is being built for real industrial sites, so deployment, security, data ownership and compatibility matter just as much as the investigation workflow. These answers reflect the current product direction and will become more detailed as deployment validation progresses.

DEPLOYMENT

How RootTruth fits into a site.

Which industries is RootTruth applicable to?

RootTruth™ is designed for machinery, automation and process investigations across industries, including Manufacturing & engineering, Food & beverage, Pharmaceuticals & medical devices, Chemicals & process industries, Energy & power generation, Oil, gas & petrochemicals, Water & wastewater, Mining, quarrying & metals, Logistics & warehousing, Transport, ports & airports, Marine & offshore, Agriculture & forestry, Packaging, paper, textiles & printing, Waste & recycling, Buildings, infrastructure & data centres. Machine builders, OEMs, systems integrators and engineering service providers can also use it across their customer environments.

This is not an exhaustive list. Suitability depends on available evidence, integration and site requirements. Explore the industry applications or discuss your environment with us.

Does RootTruth need a permanent internet connection?

No. The core architecture is local-first, so event capture, evidence storage and investigation are intended to continue on customer-controlled infrastructure without relying on continuous internet access. Optional cloud-enabled features can be added separately where appropriate.

What happens if connectivity to a PLC or camera is lost?

RootTruth™ is being designed to surface connection health and data-quality issues rather than silently presenting incomplete evidence. The exact reconnect, buffering and health-monitoring behaviour will be validated during product testing and deployment trials.

Do we need to replace our PLC, HMI, SCADA or CCTV system?

No. RootTruth™ is intended to sit alongside existing automation and video systems as an investigation layer. It does not replace the control system that runs the machine.

Can RootTruth run on an existing server or virtual machine?

That is the intended deployment model for many sites, subject to the required compute, storage, video load and IT/OT policies. Dedicated hardware may still make sense in some environments.

CONNECTIVITY

Open standards where practical.

The product is being designed around vendor-neutral integration so customers can use RootTruth™ across mixed automation environments.

Which PLCs will RootTruth support?

OPC UA is the primary integration path. That means compatibility is expected across a wide range of controllers and gateways that expose the required data through OPC UA. Exact supported combinations will be documented as they are validated.

What camera systems will work?

RTSP and ONVIF are the target standards for IP video. Existing cameras may be reusable where their streams, performance and retention requirements are suitable.

Can one site connect multiple machines and cameras?

Yes. RootTruth™ is designed as a site/server platform rather than a one-box-per-camera product. Practical capacity depends on server sizing, video streams, event volume and storage requirements.

DATA & SECURITY

Customer-controlled evidence.

Who owns the data captured by RootTruth?

The product direction is that customer event data, video evidence, PLC history and investigation records remain the customer's data. Contractual wording and retention responsibilities will be formalised before commercial launch.

Can data stay on site?

Yes. Local-first deployment is a core design principle. A customer should be able to operate the core platform while keeping captured evidence on infrastructure they control.

Does RootTruth write back to PLCs?

The standard evidence workflow is read-oriented: observe, capture and investigate. RootTruth™ is not intended to command machine outputs as part of normal event investigation.

How are users and access controlled?

The current product direction includes named accounts, role-based permissions and auditability, with architecture that can support stronger enterprise identity options later. Final security documentation will follow product validation.

How long is event data retained?

Retention will be configurable to suit the customer's storage capacity, operational needs and governance policies. Video typically drives the largest storage requirement, so sizing will form part of deployment planning.

COMMERCIAL

Licensing without artificial infrastructure limits.

The current commercial model uses three RootTruth™ tiers, with RootTruth™ AI offered separately as an optional paid add-on.

What are the RootTruth licence tiers?

Basic focuses on capture and replay. Engineer adds structured investigations, corrective-action workflows and reliability management. Intelligence adds advanced recurrence analysis, effectiveness verification, Reliability Score and higher-level intelligence features.

Do you charge per user, camera, machine or PLC tag?

The current licensing philosophy is no artificial per-user, per-camera, per-machine or per-tag restrictions. Genuine technical capacity and deployment sizing remain relevant.

Is RootTruth AI included?

No. RootTruth™ AI is planned as an optional paid add-on that customers can purchase alongside their chosen core licence. It is intended to assist engineers with investigation and analysis rather than make autonomous machine-control decisions.

Can RootTruth AI generate reports and business reviews?

Yes. RootTruth™ AI is planned to generate daily, weekly and monthly reports, as well as business reviews, using the event, investigation and reliability information available in RootTruth™. These outputs will help teams review recurring issues, corrective-action progress, downtime impact and priorities for improvement. AI-generated reports support human review and decision-making.

Why is pricing not shown publicly?

Deployment scope can vary by site, especially where cameras, integration and professional services are involved. The website therefore focuses on capability and business value, with commercial discussions handled through sales.

PILOTS & ROI

Prove the value on real events.

How would a RootTruth pilot work?

A pilot starts with a defined machine or problem, establishes a baseline, connects the relevant evidence sources, captures real events and then reviews the measured result. The goal is a clear Expand / Refine / Stop decision.

What should be measured during a pilot?

Useful measures include investigation time, repeat-event frequency, downtime impact, evidence quality, cases resolved and engineering knowledge retained.

Can RootTruth pay for itself through downtime savings?

That depends on the customer's event frequency, downtime cost and improvement achieved. Even modest reductions in investigation time or repeat downtime can be commercially meaningful, but the business case should be based on measured site data rather than a generic savings claim.
